He, Curmudgeon: An Interview with Alan Zweig

April 8, 2009

A long time ago, in another incarnation of this site, I wrote a review about a terrific documentary called Vinyl, by a filmmaker named Alan Zweig. It was about record collectors and vinyl aficionados and the lengths that some of them would go to, to feed their addiction. It wasn’t really just about vinyl. A little while later, Alan Zweig himself contacted me due to my review, asking if I wanted to be a part of his next documentary, a film called I, Curmudgeon, which was also pretty cool. I demurred, probably because I didn’t want to be pinned down as the kind of crotchety type that one thinks of when the word “curmudgeon” is used, but I salute those who did appear. Unfortunately, I seem to have missed his latest, from 2006, a film called Lovable, which he deems the end of a trilogy of inner reflection.

All that to say that BlogTO has a good interview with Zweig from February 2009 which I thought was worth highlighting.
